We were all eagerly looking forward to the show at Leighton Hall, as it is a beautiful setting for the 18th Lakeland Classic Car Rally.
We had arranged to meet at Lancaster Services on the M6 to set off in convoy at 08.30 for the final 16 miles drive to the Hall. It was a great spectacle to see the MR2s arriving at the event.
I led the way, followed by Ian Howe’s Mk1, David Blackburn’s Mk2, Chris Bailey’s Mk2, Janet Neild’s Mk2, Rob Beevers’ Mk3, Pete Russell’s Mk1, Danos Daminou’s Mk2 and Dave Hall’s Mk2. We were joined at the Hall by Brian Flanagan’s Mk1, Stuart Shearer’s Mk2 and a new member joining us at the show, Mark Ryding’s Mk3 – welcome Mark.
Everyone pitched in to set up our stand and soon Jean had the cooker going as always and plenty of sausage and bacon barm cakes were enjoyed. There were a few stall holders and of course the arena competitions were held throughout the day, which were very well supported by all the cars.
We left after enjoying good company to meet again for our North Wales Event on 31st July.
