As popular as ever, the Lymm Historic Transport Day was well supported. In addition to cars, there were motorcycles, bicycles, commercial vehicles, tractors, steam engines, canal boats and indeed any form of vintage transport.
There was a military flavour this year, with vehicles and adults dressed in uniform and both adults and children were encouraged to dress in the fashion from a range of eras, with awards presented to the best military and civilian dressed participants. On that them, there was a special flypast by the RAF’s last Dakota C-47 in the afternoon and then the historic sail past on the canal at the end of the day.
The main car event was held in the May Queen field and we had a good spot, filled by Bob and Glenys’ silver Mk3, Pete’s candy apple red
Mk1, Mike and Phyl’s Sonic Shadow, Rob and Janet’s silver
Mk3, Brian Flanagan’s green Mk3, Jean Murrays’ blue Mk2, Mike
Jackson’s red Mk1, David Blackburn’s white Mk2 and my Azure Blue Mk2. Lots of interest was shown by the general public, who were wandering around the field looking at the attractions including the stunt bikes, back by popular demand, and the children’s jester which both attracted large crowds.
A lovely sunny family day was enjoyed by all.
