This month, I decided to leave home 30 minutes earlier because of The Manchester Marathon. However, I still found myself in a traffic jam a few hundred yards from home and thought I would never leave Sale! I eventually arrived at The Manor Golf Club late, to find our members standing in the car park. John and Denise had arrived in their new family car, so we discussed all the new features on it before going inside for lunch. Terry and June then arrived, so we had five cars this month.
We had an enjoyable lunch, with plenty of chatting about a wide variety of subjects. Roy and Ann produced an amusing article featuring a conversation between a young and old man. I will ask them for a copy and attach it to another report – it will make us all smile!
We talked about Club matters, in particular the AGM weekend in October.
My MR2 still has a flat battery. I now have a new ‘Juno’ charger, which will start the engine. I must admit I am a bit of wimp when it comes to cars – I only know how to do the tyres, oil , water and petrol ….. and of course how to wash it! I wish I had taken a car mechanics course, instead of domestic science. I have been advised to charge the Juno before I can use it and also, because the car battery has been flat for so long, to leave the battery charging for a while instead of using the new Juno – thanks to Graham from the North West Region for his advice. Hopefully I will be at the AGM in the MR2 … if I ever get it going!
I have asked someone else to do the monthly report for a few months, as I will be unavailable for the next couple of meetings due to having another operation.
Happy driving now we have the nice weather!
